About Us
We are film makers based in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.
We set out with one goal: to take pure ambition and turn it into something tangible. Why wait for professionals to pick up our idea, when we can make it ourselves?
Our first production, Mirrorvael, is currently in post production. We shot it as a pilot for a six-part television drama and are proud to have done so without funding.
The reaction and overwhelming enthusiasm of everyone involved led us to continue with Canny Pictures as a platform for talent in our area.

After four gruelling wars and the banishment of the force, known only as, the Silence, the Vael is at peace. Policed by the Last Order of the Echo, Nyx abuse is controlled and users are monitored through to a full recovery. The Queen, Elmira, is weary and miisunderstood - the body of a young woman, but the tales of a warrior that has seen many winters.
Evil has returned. Elmira takes it upon herself to disspell the evil but to no avail. The Silence breaks free of its prison, the Mirrorvael, and makes an attempt on the world of the living. Only just is it contained by the Elder of the Echo Order and the Queen herself. But caught in a web of deceit and treachery, the Queen is wounded and the Last Order of the Echo exiled to all regions of the land.
Filmed in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, Mirrorvael is the first project from Canny Pictures with a release date of late 2011.

MGB follows thirteen year old Freddie, the latest recruit to G.O.D.S: a privatised protection agency employing super heroes.
When a renowned scientist presents a new method of penetrating the skin of the otherwise impervious heroes, Freddie is drawn into a deadly race to stop the technology falling into the hands of desperate weapons dealers. With his new allies, seasoned G.O.D.S. agent Bluebird and sceptical desk-bound cop Frank Forrest, Freddie has to fight personal doubt, family pressures and his own waning powers to discover what it really means to be a hero.
Canny Pictures' first FEATURE film, it is currently in production, with a wrap date set for early 2012. Anyone interested in getting involved, please get in touch.

Created for the Jessops short film competition of the same name in 2012.

It was just like any other halloween evening.
That was until Newcastle was flooded by zombies!
Intended to be a "video reality" style shoot, it documented the Newcastle Zombie Walk with some unintended events, such as zombies attacking a Quaylink Bus!
Filmed on location in Newcastle City Centre. Certainly a halloween to remember.

We are currently in pre-production to produce music videos for local bands wishing to have a bit of professional publicity.
Our first gig is for local band, Eso.
Filming is due to commence in January 2012.

Services
We are now offering a service to schools to produce tailor-made videos and short films to use in the classroom. Videos can help encourage children to write creatively or simply help present a challenge to a class in a fun and interesting way.
Teachers can specify a particular aspect of the curriculum or primary strategy they wish to address and give us a deadline for completion. Videos will be between 3-4mins long to keep children focused, anything longer and the excitement factor will be lost.
If you would like to hear more about this service then get in touch and we can send out examples of previous work and how we can help you with your query. We ask that teachers leave a donation to cover time allocated to this service, but we wouldn't wish for anything more than £1 - as we do promote our compnay as a zero-budget initiative.

Canny Pictures have increasing access to a number of props and costumes.
As an independent production company, we know that budgets can spin out of control in no time at all, so all we ask is that you make a donation to help us cover costs.
Primarily, our wardrobe department consists of police equipment, but we do have some other bits and pieces available. If you see anything used in one of our productions, we can probably get it for you.
